MAKNA (Majlis Kanser Nasional or the National Cancer Council)


Background

MAKNA (Majlis Kanser Nasional or the National Cancer Council) is a not-for-profit social enterprise mainly tasked to pool and utilise every effort, expertise and financial aid from every faction of society, and to fight cancer and reduce the related pain, suffering and morbidity that cancer patients and their families often experience.

MAKNA registered under the Register of Societies on 10th November 1994 and officially launched on 30th March 1995. MAKNA was founded by Dato’Mohd Farid Ariffin.
         
 
         
Mission

To mobilise resources in order to provide curativepreventiveresearch and support services to cancer patients and their families, high-risk groups and the general public, in Malaysia and the World.
         
 
         
Motto

The human spirit can achieve what it is set out to do when the will is able.
         
 
         
Objective

To pool and utilize all efforts, expertise and finance from all sectors of the society, to fight cancer and reduce related pain, morbidity and the suffering that cancer patients undergo.

kos perubatan untuk dalam tempoh setahun adalah RM50,000 dan tempoh rawatan selama 5 TAHUN. bermakna pesakit perlu menyediakan RM250,000.

akibat dari kos yang tak mampu ditanggung oleh pesakit, maka pada tahun 2005 kes kematian akibat dr KANSER seramai 22,000 pesakit.

1 nisbah 4 pesakit diMalaysia dilapurkan,
4,000 pesakit wanita menghidap kanser payudara
3,500 pesakit lelaki menghidap kanser hati
dan lebih menyedihkan seramai 3,000 pesakit kanak-kanak didaftarkan di MAKNA.

pengasas MAKNA adalah Dato Mohd Farid, ini adalah kerana pengalaman salah seorang anak nya, meninggal dunia akibat kanser.

Direct Debit Donor Programme (DDDP)

DDDP is a MAKNA fundraising solution that provides the organisation with a regular and predictable flow of funds.

This sustainable source of income allows MAKNA to plan for the future and is invaluable in the fulfilment of its mission to help as many cancer patients as possible.


DDDP specifically aims to:
  • Raise sustainable funds and awareness towards MAKNA’s work, the incidence of cancer, and what is needed to help cancer patients.
  • Develop a long-term, loyal donor base for MAKNA’s numerous projects.
  • Build a meaningful relationship between donors and MAKNA and
  • Provide a convenient and sustainable fundraising avenue for charity-minded donors in Malaysia.

Approximately RM 1.26RM 38A year donation could go towards the cost of providing a prosthetic limb to a bone cancer survivor.
Approximately RM 1.93RM 58A year donation could go towards one MRI for one patient.
